Nothing like a big FAT burger....

Lately, I have posted so many recipes that I figured I needed to break it up, so what better way to do it then still talk about food but the kind you order! Last Sunday, was my mom's birthday so it was her turn to pick where to eat. She ended up choosing a place called Park Burger down off Pearl Street in Denver, and I was soooo glad she did!!! I haven't had a burger or fries in a long time so it was nice to eat something super greasy and totally bad for me :) I may have also had a vanilla malt....shhhh, i know so bad. I don't even want to know how many calories it was but you gotta live a little right??? I ordered there Park Buger which was DELICOUS. If you are in that area you should definetly stop and check it out, it is definetly worth all those unhealthy calories :) I feel like I need to go work out now just from reading this...

Home Sweet Home.

I am so glad to be back home this weekend after traveling this week for work.  I was only gone a few days but it is such a whirlwind, not to mention totally messes with my routine.  It's funny to think that of all the places in the world, there is only one that you call home and love.
Trying new recipes has been something I have liked to do since getting married. Before that, I LOATHED cooking.  It was so bad that I even burnt Top Ramen noodles in the microwave TWICE because I forgot to add water...yup that bad.  Last Monday, before I left for Houston I had been meaning to make an Almond Poppy-seed Bread recipe that I was so excited to try out. Of course I got it off Pinterest and if you would like to try it out (which I highly recommend) you can click here.  I bought all the ingredients a couple weeks ago so it was at that point to either shit or get off the pot, so I decided to go for it! It was the first time I had ever attempted to make any kind of bread before so I was a little nervous. Surprisingly, it was such an easy recipe and the best part was that it was DELICIOUS!!!  I even tried the batter before scooping it into the bread pans and OMG, I found myself licking the whole bowl afterwards!! I probably could have just eaten the batter it was that good! Needless to say the bread was a HUGE hit especially since it hasn't even been a week since I made the two loaves and we only have a quarter of one left....clearly John had a hay day when I was gone :) It's probably a good thing I was gone, otherwise we would have fought over it!

On another note, today is my Mom's birthday!! Our family is so lucky to have a great person like her to hold us all together :) We love you Mom and hope your day is as awesome as you!!!

Problems of a Chocoholic.

One thing that I love more than anything is chocolate; ok maybe not as much as my sister who came out of the womb a chocoholic but I can do my fair share of damage. Chocolate desserts can be some of the easiest, quickest and yummiest desserts to make for any occasion and what better to put it on than fruit you have in your fridge that needs to get eaten??!
When it comes to choosing the best chocolate, there is no competition. Milk chocolate move over, Bittersweet or Semi-Sweet Ghirardelli is where it's at. I personally like the Bittersweet since it has more flavor but either one tastes great. I grabbed a box of strawberries from the fridge, cleaned them, and made sure they were completely dry.  Meanwhile, melted the chocolate in the microwave on 30 second intervals at 50% power. Make sure to follow the directions with the chocolate otherwise you can very easily burn it and if you do, I will come to your kitchen and personally slap you in the face for wasting such good chocolate...ok not really but you get the point. After the strawberries were dipped and in the fridge to cool, I still had remaining chocolate left...what to do, what to do?? I remembered I had made this awesome (so simple) recipe from Pinterest with bananas and peanut butter, pretty much the best combo in the world! So I grabbed a couple bananas that needed to be eaten, lathered some peanut butter on and coated them in delicious chocolate, then popped them in the freezer :) Ahhhh, my world was complete. Voila, the easiest dessert and snack you can make for any occasion or if you're like me just to have in your fridge for a chocolate surge :)

I dig that!!

February is the month of LOVE, so what better than to write about the things I am loving right now??
Here is a quick list of some products that I highly recommend to try and ideas that I LOVE!

Since I am once again growing out my nails (John is so excited), I have been obsessed with blue and green shades...makes me think of spring :) Colors from left to right: Orly- It's Up to Blue, Orly-Green with Envy, China Glaze-Re-Fresh Mint

My FAV candle from Anthropologie, Voluspa-Santiago Huckleberry....amaze balls

I have been waiting and waiting for our store to carry this. I love butter, and this is 100X better!

Personalized wine corks! This is totally my Mom's idea and I love it! Write on each cork what the wine bottle you drank was from and who drank it with you, then collect them! So fun to look back through the years at all the people that you have had great times with :) Thanks Mom!

I never should have made these....

So I'm sure most of you out there have stumbled upon a lovely little site called Pinterest. If not, I suggest you stay far far away because it will literally suck every second of time you have and two hours later you will have pinned 122324342 recipes that sounded good because you were starving looking at the screen.  I can't stop, I think I have a pinning problem....seriously.

Last week, I pinned a recipe for "THE BEST Chocolate Chip Cookie," so of course I had to make it and see if it was indeed "THE BEST."  The day before Valentine's Day I made the dough so it could chill for 2 hours (they say it's best to do that when making cookies).  The next day I got the dough out and baked 30  HUGE chocolate chip cookies packed full of TONS of chocolate!  I think it's pretty safe to say these cookies were so worth it, although not for my thighs. They do have a little bit more salt than a normal chocolate chip cookie, so if you're used to a sweeter cookie then I suggest not using as much salt as the recipe calls for. I on the other hand, like salty sweet desserts and everyone else that tried them thought they were great! I would definetly recommend this receipe to anyone out there who loves cookies, and who doesn't love a damn good chocolate chip cookie??!!

My V-Day flowers from John Witt! Just had to include them :)

It's been awhile...

Well, it's about 2 years since I last posted anything and I kind of miss it. Since I last wrote, there's definetly been a lot that has changed: a new house, new jobs for both of us, and a lot of new friendships and experiences! There's definetly too much to catch you all up on so I'll just start with a blank slate.

Since today is Valentine's Day here is a photo from Pinterest that I LOVE! Has to be the cutest thing I've ever seen and makes me hope that I'll be doing that at his age one day :)

Tell everyone you love them today and Happy Valentine's Day!!

Allie xoxo
